✅ S U B S C R I B E ► video shows you how to use Rommon Mode on a Cisco Router using the Cisco Packet Tracer network simulator program.

To use Rommon Mode on the Cisco Router using Cisco Packet Tracer:

1. If you have not installed the Cisco Packet Tracer before, please refer to the following videos for Packet Tracer installation on Windows, Linux and MacOS operating systems.

➦ Windows: Linux/Debian: MacOS: Add one Cisco Router, Cisco Switch, and TFTP Server to the Cisco Packet Tracer workspace.

3. Connect the network devices with a flat cable.

4. Configure the TFTP Server and make sure that it works.

6. Use the copy flash: tftp: command to copy the Cisco Router IOS image to the TFTP Server.

7. Apply the "config register 0x2100" command in configuration mode to switch Rommon Mode on the Cisco Router.

➦ config register 0x2100

8. Restart the Router using the Reload command.

➦ Reload

9. To restore the Cisco Router IOS image from the TFTP Server, perform the following commands while in Rommon Mode.

➦ IP_ADDRESS: 192.168.10.1

➦ IP_SUBNET_MASK: 255.255.255.0

➦ DEFAULT_GATEWAY: 192.168.10.1

➦ TFTP_SERVER: 192.168.10.100

➦ TFTP_FILE: c1900-universalk9-mz.SPA.151-4.M4.bin

10. Run the following command to start uploading the iOS image back to the router.

➦ tftpdnld

11. After completing the IOS restore process, run the command "confreg 0x2102" in Rommon Mode.

➦ confreg 0x2102
